Documentary - TV3/TVE

One fine day, Dory Sontheimer, a Barcelona-born woman with a German background, discovers the scary past of her Jewish family, buried in the loft of her room. She finds, hidden for decades in seven boxes, a detailed chronicle about the agony suffered by her parents when tried to escape the Nazi regime.

The agony suffered by her parents when tried to escape the Nazi regime

Surrounded by historians, writers and journalists, she travels from Catalonia to the United States, through Germany, the Czech Republic, Argentina, and elsewhere, in order to meet her unknown family members and restore their story.

'I love the Mediterranean land and, despite of history, also that country that one day repudiated my family'

Dory Sontheimer

The documentary and the book on which it is based will be used to pay homage and give voice to people who, like the Sontheimer family, were persecuted, despised, insulted and humiliated during the terrifying Nazi dictatorship. In addition, these testimonies will help the descendants of families like theirs, feel proud of their background and origins.
